Alex F. DeNoble, Ph.D.

Alex DeNoble is Professor of Entrepreneurship and Executive Director of the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center at San Diego State University. He teaches Entrepreneurship in SDSU’s undergraduate, graduate, and CSU I-Corps programs. He is the founder (2015) and current Director of SDSU’s California Entrepreneurship Educators Conference, a global gathering of leading and emerging entrepreneurship educators and researchers. Additionally, he holds CETYS University’s PIMSA Distinguished Chair of Competitiveness in Business and Entrepreneurship.

In 2016 he served as President of the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) and he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the International Council for Small Business (ICSB).

His primary areas of expertise include entrepreneurship and corporate innovation, technology commercialization, and strategic management. He has conducted research in these areas and has published articles in such journals as IEEE Transactions on Management, the Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, the Journal of Small Business Management, the Journal of High Technology Management Research, and the Journal of Technology Transfer. He has been involved in several startups and also has consulted with such organizations as Qualcomm, San Diego Gas & Electric, and Siemens.

He received a B.S. in Accounting from Monmouth University, and an M.S. in Accounting and Ph.D. in Strategic Management from Virginia Tech.
